The Morning After Pills are taken
within 72 hours (3days) of unprotected sex or when a method
that is used fails (condom breaks during sex). By taking the
pills you may be able to prevent pregnancy. The Morning After
Pill does not cause a spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) and
is not considered an abortion pill. The morning after pill
has been available in the U.S. for over 25 years.

| How
does the Morning After Pill work? |
 |
The high dose of birth control pills
can stop an unwanted pregnancy in different ways depending on
the time of your menstrual cycle. They will send different signals
to your body. The hormones cause the following in order to avoid
pregnancy:
- prevent the release of the egg from
the ovary
- prevent the fertilization of an egg
- prevent the fertilized egg from implanting
on the wall of the uterus,
where it begins to grow.
